A Self-love Song

This series was inspired by a collection of poems written by the Japanese poet Ishikawa Takuboku. These poems depict the poet's mundane life, beneath which lies his deep care for family and friends. The scenes and emotions portrayed in his poems are from over 100 years ago; surprisingly, they still resonate with me today. I carefully selected eight poems and depicted them with my imagination.

All works were created using gouache on paper. I designed the irregular shape of this book to enhance the joy of reading. The accordion book format is intended to make readers feel as if they are experiencing everyday life alongside the poet while reading. Let's embrace the fragments of each day and love ourselves every day.
